Endémica del Mar Mediterráneo. Se encuentra a profundidades que van de 400 a 700 m.
Esta especie es raramente capturada
  Aletas anal 50-51; segunda aleta dorsales 54-55; aleta anal sin sangría
Color: Radios pélvicos sin ornamentación distal . Cuerpo bastante uniformemente pigmentado, sin patrones de barras o manchas
